Sick, but still crafting

It turns out that allergy problem has morphed into yet another case of "preschoolitis", or every time Jack goes to school we get yet another head cold. I need it to evacuate quickly, I have to host Easter in a few days! Anyway, yesterday I was busy turning this paper mache Easter basket into this:
A glass glitter Easter basket!
I have another one I want to do in pink, presuming my head full of junk cooperates. I did a really cute decoupage on the inside which I plan to get a photo of with the pink one.
How awesome is this little tree mini quilt from Shanna at Pink Trees ? It is a 1000 times better than I even expected. Thank you so much! I am going to treasure it forever.
And because no post is complete without a little Jack, this big mess of thread *was* 5 new skeins of embroidery thread before I got into the shower. Apparently he likes to carry around the paper wrappers. I really need to sort out some way to entertain him while I shower. Yesterday he ate half a box of chocolates while I was in there!

  1. Ooh, I LOOOOVE your glittery basket! It is just darling! I can't wait to see its pink mate and the pretties on the inside.

I know what you mean about showers. We still have a gate installed so I put on some Elmo, shut the gate and RUN for it!

  3. Ack! I love the basket soooo much! It is so entirely perfect! I didn't get around (again) to making my Martha eggs with the glass glitter. Next year...perhaps.

  4. Maybe you should stop getting showers. (hee hee hee)

We've had such disasters, too, while I've been showering. One of the most memorable was my 2-yr-old pooping and smearing it all over the white carpeting in our first house ... right after we had gotten a contract on it! I was so afraid the new buyer would back out. (Most of it did come out, though.)

That basket is just darling. Cute idea.

  8. I love your glittery basket! It's so beautiful! My son is 6 and he still gets into everything whenever I jump in the shower. Wonder if they outgrow that? :o)

  9. That Jack is a riot! I must admit to stealing some of my mom's DMC labels to use as "green beans" in my toy kitchen. They are somehow interesting to kids. The basket is glorious! I have to order some of that glass glitter!

  13. You did a great job on the basket, can't wait to see the other mate to it :)

lol...on Jack's mischief..lol..I remember the days of my lil man getting into things when I popped in the shower. When they were way little, I'd put the little baby carrier in the bathroom with me, and then they got bigger..and there were times when shower was not in the cards for me...lol..ohhh the joys of mother hood!

  14. Love the glittery basket Sarah!

Isn't it funny the things kids will do when left alone? My son likes to spread out his blanket, pull a bunch of canned food out of the pantry and have a "picnic"!

I love the tree quilt...and can't you just see it done again in Autumn colours with red buttons for apples!
Last time my little guy got up to trouble like that he had been quiet for a while(oh the glories of a solitary shower!) and when I called out to him "what are you doing?" the answer came back, rather muffled, " I'mb pudding beads ub my noth!" !!

    Happy Easter! Gill.

  16. He and Boots should not be left alone together with any type of Chocolate!!! Hehehe! I found that a puzzle works great. It holds his interest and it gives me time to actually get in, run around, use soap and shampoo and (gasp) have time for conditioner! Good luck with that!!!

  20. This is so true about the shower, my kids do great , but the minute I go into the shower room, something takes over them and they make full use of no Mommy watching them...Still I remember complaining that the minute I got in the shower two faces would appear pushed up against the glass and scare the living day lights out of me when the steam would clear!!!
    Oh how cute thay are!!!
