61 miles

We did all 61 miles of the 61 yard sale yesterday. Considering the sale started on Thursday night, I found some nice treasure. And cheap too. Next year I am going to try and get there on the first day of the sale. We took Jack with us like last year, and he was pretty excellent. (It did help that we had the portable DVD player with us to keep him entertained on the way down.)
I found some lovely pottery for my new collection, including this vase that is the perfect shade of pink on the inside.
Some nice ornaments. I think that color grading thing was called Sunset by Shiny Brite.
Gobs of old millinery flowers. I really never find those.
The sweetest, sweetest old crib quilt. 25 cents! Be sure to enlarge the photo to see the detail on the blocks.

And loads more, including vintage fabric and some pyrex, which will be on Flickr here .

We are off to take Jack to the last carnival of the season, and then swimming the last time tomorrow. I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday weekend!

  2. Sounds like a good haul. :) I really love the vase. Aren't the portable DVD players one of the best things ever? We brought ours with us to Wisconsin Dells and N. sat quietly for the entire 2 hour, 45 minute drive.

  3. Ooooo how fun!! I'm so looking forward to the Pec Thing in two weeks. I don't know how close you are to the area (noticed that you're in the Midwest too) but you'd love Pec. It's at the Winnebago County Fair Grounds in IL. Blessings... Polly

  7. Don't know what I'd do without our portable DVD player!

You found some wonderful things Sarah. I think the Geranium canisters and Tea Pot Tablecloth are my favorites.

I have a question....what exactly are millinery flowers? I've never understood exactly what they are.

  23. Oooh, what lovelies. Love the vase and ornaments. And the quilt is so cute -- kind of makes you sad though that someone thought it was only worth 25 cents. Oh well, their loss -- your gain!

  25. Can I tell you that I am totally jealous? 61 miles of yard sales! Did your hubby come along with you? And did he actually enjoy it? Your finds are gorgeous - I would love a picture of the inside of the vase (maybe that's on Flickr?). The Shiny Brite ornaments - they'll be gorgeous on your feather tree. O.K., I'm off to check out your flickr site.
