A visit from the Easter bird?

Many moons ago, we had an incident involving a squirrel in the house. Imagine my horror, when on Easter Sunday, with our family coming here for Easter dinner, my husband announces from the living room while I am making the bunny cake, that we have an animal in the chimney. It actually went down better this time, with him catching said animal while it was still in the fireplace. Thankfully it was a bird and not a squirrel. But still, the Easter bunny visit would have been enough animal visitation for the day, thankyouverymuch. LOL
We've had a super busy weekend, which including dyeing the eggs. (No tears this year when one of the eggs broke!)
The aforementioned bunny cake is complete, despite the bird invasion.
It's been snowing. On Easter. Crazy.
Easter baskets have been inspected and approved of. (And some candy has been eaten of course.)
Adorable bunny ears photos have been taken.

And all that's left to do is eat that nasty ham. (I really dislike ham. It is way too shiny for me to eat.)

Happy Easter!

*More photos on Flickr if you need them. :-)

  1. I am just in tears of laughter over that squirrel story!! We live with lots of critters, squirrels included, but have never had one in the chimney. Years ago my dad put a metal grate(real metal, not any of that flimsy wire stuff) across the top of it and I think that has saved us from certain invasion. God knows the rats are having a high-ho time in the attic and the possums are well-fed on dog food around here. We are at the point of having to decide if we'll do poison for the rats though, the traps work but there are more rats than we can deal with. Ugh.

Hope it doesn't snow all day on you! Looks like Easter happiness is going on despite it though.

  8. You have seriously got one of the cutest boys I have ever seen! As for critters - growing up we had squirrels, raccoons, and birds, so my sympathies on the animal front.

  10. Sounds like a great Easter! Oh, and go ahead and send that ham to me--somehow we ended up not having any of the traditional MEAT this year!

  12. Oh my, we have a squirrel in our eaves. We suspect he can come and go and he loves scampering around at the crack of dawn. Oy.

Jack looks adorable, as always! We dyed eggs with Luis' neice and nephew yesterday and the youngest, 6, cried because he couldn't get the dye off his hands, poor thing. :)

  16. We've had birds in our house before and our fireplaces are covered. That is not a good feeling. At least your husband was home for the incident. My husband was not for any of the three.

  17. Ohh that last picture of Jack with the bunny ears are sooo adorable!! He's a cutie! Love your bunny cake! Want to take several bites!! :-) I do not know what it is with the weather this year, but its the same here ; snowing! Argh I was really in a Spring mood these days ;-) You know squirrels make good pets! A tiny, red little cutie lived here for several years when my father was a kid, made himself quite at home here, and for years later my granmother found hidden nuts in the weirdes places :-)
