I think he will retain some of the thriftyness. Though my husband grew up poor and while he is a very good saver he also likes nice quality items because he couldn't have them as a kid. My favorite story is when he asked his mother for a pair of Air Jordan's and she brought him a pair of Patrick Ewings (a player for the Knicks.) He said he took a lot of teasing in school but looking back knows his Mom (single and working three jobs) always did the best she could for him. :)
