Cue the doorbell of doom

Well, Jack still will not walk at all. He laid in bed this morning and just cried until someone came to pick him up and he has not put the foot on the floor since he fell yesterday.

Our ped has referred us to an ortho, who we will see at 2 today.

Obviously I am FREAKING OUT OVER HERE.

My kid is not a cry baby kind of kid. He just gets himself up, dusts himself off and goes on with his business.

I have no clue what in the hell could possibly be going on with him to cause him to act like this.

:-(

This sucks.

  1. I am so sad for Jack. We had a friend whose daughter hurt her foot. She hopped around the campsite for 3 days... 5 doctors were camping with us, all said "no big deal" then, finally after a week of pain they took her and found it was not her foot but that she had broken her leg near the ankle. I am SOOOO Hoping Jack does not have any broken bones. However, if he does once the cast is on it hurst so much less, or so I am told. Poor kid. And poor you... it's hard to watch your kids hurt. Praying for you...

  9. My son jumped off the couch when he was about 2 and proceeded to not step on his foot. He would say his foot hurt him. Went to the doctor and they xrayed found nothing. Happened to have him with me for my chiro appointment and they looked at his foot and ankle and it turned out he had jammed his ankle bones. They gave it a little tug and the boy was back to terrorizing the house the same day. If they didn't see anything on x-ray it could be jammed up bones in the ankle.

  11. He is hurt. He is listening to his body and not putting weight on it. You are getting it looked at by a doc and it will all get sorted out. (((hugs))) He will feel better again.

  13. I've spent probably 1/5th of my waking hours the past 15 years with my kids at some orthopedic/ physical therapy/MRI-X ray place, so I am here to say after the first big injury, it gets pretty routine. They bounce back pretty fast (and there are worse things than broken bones sometimes - they seemed to heal faster than other injuries sometimes). I hope he's able to hop around to trick or treat, poor guy. Am I sounding unsympathetic? I hope not. Just hoping to offer a little reassurance. I loved that he called a cleaner yesterday - LOL!

  14. It sure does suck, and right before Halloween. Maybe you could get some people to bring candy to him? Or he could trick or treat while on Daddy's shoulders? Hope things get better soon.

  16. Oh Sarah! I just checked in to see how you were doing. I'm sorry to hear about Jack's foot. I hope that it is just sprained. I hope that Halloween brought a smile to Jack's face and that he just has a sprain.
