It's all Greek to me

I found a pretty pair of pillowcases at the thrift this morning.
They are too large to be regular pillowcases, maybe they are for Euro squares.
Really it was the tag that sold me.

Any thoughts on what language that is?

It's all Greek to me. :-)

That's Cyrillic (the alphabet used in, among other places, Russia).

I'm not sure what country but they are super cute! They do look like a euro square 26x26, I do have a german set and they are more like 32x32.

how sweet,I can't wait to see where you put them?

Thank you Anon. It looked familiar, and yet, impossible to google without being able to name it/make the characters.

Pretty sure it's Russian AND I have a good friend who speaks and reads Russian so I'll send her the picture and ask if you like?

It is Russian. The Cyrillic alphabet was "invented" by two Greek monks, Cyril and Methodius in about 863 AD. They based it, of course, on the Greek alphabet they were familiar with and added other symbols as needed. The Russian alphabet has 32 letters and symbols.
