My darling Samantha,

One year ago today you came into our lives. A beautiful, perfect, dark haired little girl that was the answer to my prayers.

There was heartache on our journey to that day. But there has been nothing but joy and wonder since.

You remind me every day that the things worth having are worth fighting for.

At one year you are:
*still the happiest baby ever. Everyone who sees you (stranger or not) remarks on your demeanor
*still a crappy sleeper, but we are getting there, I hope
*a voracious eater of everything, you are particularly fond of ice cream and will come crawling as fast as you can from anywhere in the house when you get wind of it coming out of the freezer
*in love with playing outside, you are happy to crawl off and just explore the sights and sounds and smells and tastes (to my chagrin) of everything
*adding new words - uh oh, shiny, dada, mama, cat, kitty and working on the sign for eat in addition to the sign for milk
*starting to stand for a few moments on your own
*funny! You snort because you know it makes us laugh
*in love with paper, you will cry if you don't get the shopping list or some coupons to play with
*starting to show that old sibling rivalry with Jack. There is much screeching if he touches your toys and you can't wait for him to leave for school every day so you can head straight to his room to get in trouble!
*finally starting to enjoy the bathtub, an interesting toy seems to help



And here we are. One year and many changes later. It's amazing how fast it has gone my sweet girl. I look forward to the coming year when I get to know the little person you are becoming even more.
