Sweltering

It has been sweltering hot here this past week. 95 degrees in late May is a bad sign of things to come. Jack enjoyed playing in the wading pool, however, and he discovered that he could drink up half the pool using a bowl.

These shoes are the latest objects of Jack's affection. The first time he saw them in Target, he held up his feet and started saying "Jack's shoes, Jack's shoes." They didn't "really" have them in his size, so we left them behind. (He needs a 5, the smallest they carry is a 6.) 2 days later, we were without electricity due to the heat wave, and we saw the shoes at Journey's kids (for more than double the price!), Jack started to scream and cry in the store "I want this, I want this." I went promptly to Target, where upon seeing them again, he started chanting "I want this, shoes, shoes." We bought them of course. The very first thing the next morning, he went to get the shoes, carried them to me very carefully and insisted I put them on him. Toddlers! Posted by Picasa

Hmmm, I wish mom would put these shoes on me already! "I want them, I want them!" Posted by Picasa

Ahhh, life is good with the shoes! Posted by Picasa

A very greasy Jack shows off his sunscreen hairdo. BIG NEWS ALERT!!!!! BIG NEWS ALERT!!!! Jack went pee pee on the potty today!!!!! (And the kid who had never once peed on me to date, peed on me while he was on the potty. Oh the irony. LOL) Posted by Picasa

I made my own playdough for Jack tonight. Each color is about softball sized, and I made all 4 of them in roughly 30 mins. I used the recipe here http://www.mcps.k12.md.us/curriculum/pep/playdo.htm Posted by Picasa
And they aren't lying, it is the best playdough ever! Just like store bought, not grainy at all. I used generic Kool aid for the color, and it makes it smell great. Grape, Strawberry, Blueberry and Lemon lime, yum! The only catch is it requires quite a bit of cream of tartar, which can be expensive. I buy mine here
http://www.oldtownspices.com/ which happens to be local for me, but he will ship it to you very reasonable. (He used to ship things to me in FL, I love that guy.)

I Love these shoes so much, I bought them in both blue and brown. I had to go to 6 Targets (and call another 10) to find them in my size, but, I LOVE them! You can find your own at Target.com, search for Exhilaration Acadia. Posted by Picasa

I cannot seem to make my usual photo program work, so, here goes a try with this instead. You might be looking at this photo and thinking, Sarah! Change his diaper already! LOL Today Jack decided to fill his onesie up with Legos.

Hmmmm, how many more can I fit in there? Posted by Picasa

Followed by much clapping. Posted by Picasa

And to celebrate, I will eat this duck, while legos fall out of my pants. Posted by Picasa

Jack (in surgery greens, LOL), gets prepped to finish his Mother's day project for me. It is also my birthday today, a whopping 31. I had hoped to go the zoo and ride the "Chooo! Chooo!" with Jack, but it is freezing cold and raining. Maybe next weekend (and maybe next weekend I can pretend I am still 24!). Posted by Picasa

The final Mother's day gift product! I really adore how it turned out. It's in a shadow box, hence the glare from the flash, and I used vintage fabric for the leaves on the flowers and the cutest little vintage ducks on the bottom. (I found them just yesterday at a rummage sale for a nickel! The photo does not do them justice.) I have been wanting Jack's handprints since he was born, but it was just too hard to do when he was small. The idea for the flowers came from a pretty decent new magazine called Wonder Time. Posted by Picasa

Dave and I went to Chicago on our first ever trip without Jack last weekend. It was awesome, we did lots of shopping and flea marketing (with no getting a little person in and out and in and out of the carseat), but boy did I miss him! This is a HUGE painting that I really love. It was my (early) birthday present. Posted by Picasa

Jack LOVES his new fire engine. In fact, he loves it so much that he wants to go up and down the hill again and again and again and again, well, you get the idea. Posted by Picasa

In order to satisfy Jack's desire to do this game 1,687,942 times, Dave has devised a very complicated pulley system. He ties the rope to the back of the fire engine and then gives him a push. Wheee, down the hill he goes!!!!!!!!!! Posted by Picasa

And then he is pulled back to the top of the hill. Posted by Picasa

Rinse and repeat. Posted by Picasa
