A
few weeks ago, I posted about Ofray felt rick rack. I discovered yesterday that you can make your own felt rick rack with a handy dandy Olfa rotary cutter. The blue one is purchased, the white and pink were made by me.

I am totally NOT a knitter, but I can use things like the
Knifty Knitter . This spool knitter is even better, because it was
free! I am making some knitted cord for a St. Patrick's day project I saw in the latest issue of
Cutting Edge magazine . You can find directions for making and using your own spool knitter
here.

And a very sweet Valentine from
More Rice Please. Thank you Maresi and Henry!
I never new that it was that easy to make rickrack either! How neat! I'm glad that you've tried out your rotary cutter already :)
ReplyDeleteOh - thank you so much for the tip! Since I - ah - bought out my Walmart's entire supply of their felt rickrack, I wondered what I was going to do if they didn't restock!
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute! All of it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you got it! henry loved putting his hands in the paint. and that rick-rack is so neat. I'm sure we'll see it on something beautiful really soon.
ReplyDeleteI was going to get one of those rotary cutters, now I am for sure getting one to try out your nifty idea :)

Love the rick rack. How much do one of those rotary cutters cost?
ReplyDeleteI may be biased, but I like your rick rack better than the purchased. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteI need a new rotary cutter and just found the Olfa with bonus scallop blade on sale at joann.com for $12.99. Sounds like a deal I can't pass up. :)
Heidi, the olfa ones are on sale at Joanns right now. There is one with a bonus scallop blade for $12.99, then it would be like another $15 for the wave and pinking blades. I didn't get quite that good of a deal, because there was no scallop blade to be had locally.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Will have to get one of those. I love rick rack and am in process of adding some to a couple of thrift pillowcases. Thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteLoved all the valentiney goodness from the previous day's post - your husband is a gem! That is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful gifts...
ReplyDeleteWanted to thank you for the Knifty Knitter links - I've long seen these, but didn't know how to use them, or what to do with the cords once you made them. I'm looking forward to educating myself...
Happy Weekend!
(and stay warm - that's lots of snow you've got there!)
I am so going to get me one of those zig zag cutters!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info!
Ohh, clever clever on the rickrack! never would have thought of it. Cool!
