On the ninth day of Halloween, the Great Pumpkin gave to me: Our very own copy of Goodnight Goon; a plastic moon* and a witch on a broom; and a vintage clown costume.
Like how I did that post Goodnight Moon style? Ha, I crack myself up. :-)
*I have no clue what these things are. They are marked Hong Kong, so I am guessing 1980's or so? They are about the size of my palm, and have no hooks or anything for hanging.
Since I have Goodnight Moon memorized, I did recognize that style. But I had no idea Goodnight Goon existed. I don't know what those thingies are, either.
I think they are cake toppers for 8" round bakery cakes. I would guess them earlier than the 1980's though, but, then again, I am from the 1980's and think that was just a few years ago. ha.
I am also going to get the goon book - what a find! Too Many Pumpkins is my son's favorite Halloween story, but it is out at the library, so maybe we will have a Halloween book run to the bookstore. I love that boa-googly eye wreath, by the way. That is awesome!

ReplyDeleteI can assure you Shara, it WAS just a few years ago. At least last time I checked!
ReplyDeleteWhatever those are, they, along with the costume and book, are adorable!!! Goodnight Goon will be my next search at the bookstore.

ReplyDelete(just seeing what is going on with the comment box.)
ReplyDeleteCould they possibly be for decorating cakes...? And, I see now that someone else commented with the same suggestion... Now I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteI love the clown costume. I picked one up almost exactly like it this summer, garage sailing. (And, why doen't that surprise me in the least.)
