I have mentioned before that we live in the most violent city in the United States. Year after year, St Louis tops that horrible list.
And yet, somehow we feel insulated from the violence on this side of the river. It's a rare day that we have a murder over here.
Yesterday the evening news featured this story .
As I watched the news coverage I had the really sickening realization that the building on tv was our pediatrician's office. Where we were sitting 4 days ago with Jack, waiting to see our ped.
A building filled with children and pregnant women and newborn babies.
Sometimes this is a scary, scary world.
It is really scary that someone can/would just walk in a hospital or any building with a gun. Even though this was not random, it is still scary as he could've hit anyone. How horrible that she died.
ReplyDeleteIn our area (Co. Bluffs, Omaha) there have been some violent purse snatchings. One lady got shot in a hospital parking lot! I found that interesting too since most people don't even carry that much cash anymore with debit cards.
That is so sad, the world is a scary place.
ReplyDeletesuch a sad story! You'd never expect this in a doctors office! It IS a sad SICK world sometimes!
ReplyDeleteHow scary and sad... Especially that it happened in a doctor's office! That has got to really shake you up. So, so sad that she died. It is a scary world we live in!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness there are so many good things and so many blessings all around us too or we'd all go crazy.
Life feels like a crapshoot sometimes, doesn't it? I guess all we can do is our best to be thankful each day for our blessings, as they are many!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awful thing. Sorry to hear people can't hold it together and act sane.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is great!
Oh, that would make my stomach flip. One never knows... (And KC isn't having the best year either. Enough already!!!)
ReplyDeleteTake heart. xoxo
If its any consolation, I grew up right outside the murder capital of the world. And we had a car jacking a block away from our home over the summer. Wait, why would that be any consolation? Who knows? All we can do is be vigilant and find ways in our individual communities to stem the violence. It is sad though, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWe just had a similar occurence here, one of the victims a member of our church. Violence seems to invade even the most peaceful-seeming spots. And yes, it is scary.
ReplyDeleteAtlanta is that way too. I was always so nervous there. It's insane the violence today.
ReplyDeleteVery very scary!!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, how scary. Just a couple of years ago my husband and I were actually looking for homes in the O'Fallon area since we thought he was getting orders to Scott AFB.
ReplyDeleteLiving here near Baltimore, we hear about all sorts of crime every single day. It's everywhere.
