I've done this idea once before with an old jar I bought at the flea market (it already had a painted lid though), but after I bought a bunch of jar at a garage sale recently they sat on my counter so long that I decided they would make cute new everyday canisters in the kitchen.

These are just those anchor hocking jars you can buy at both wal-mart and target, with pieces of contact paper stuck on the front and spray paint on the lids. I think the roses cut out gives them more of an old fashioned look, like water slide decals. But the scallop cut on the small jars was too cute to resist.

I still like my old blue Martha canisters...

but this way I can easily see that we REALLY need flour. LOL
These look fantastic :)
ReplyDeletewow; simply lovely! I love the cut-outs and the complementing pink lids!
ReplyDeleteLove them, where did you get the fab contact paper?
ReplyDeleteI really LOVE them! They look great on the counter too.
ReplyDeleteAnd where are you finding such darling contact paper? Are you printing it yourself??? WONDERFUL!!!
ReplyDeleteSarah, those jars look wonderful! I'm with roseylittlethings, where did you find that contact paper? I swear to you that my Wal-Mart still carries the same pattern contact paper since 1990! Your countertop looks so nice and sharp but with a touch of rosiness!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to get me a set for sure!
Deanna :D
Those are without a doubt the most amazing looking canisters EVER.
ReplyDeleteLovely, dahling. I actually thought of you earlier when I found some most fabulous goodies at the swap shop. I got jars, too! They're boring but they're fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThese look awesome! Esp next to the kitchenaide! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat canisters!
ReplyDeleteDarling!!! Where did you find the contact paper?
ReplyDeleteI bought a ton of those jars at Wal-Mart after Christmas one year for $1.00 each. But, the ones I bought had penguins on one side. I printed labels (Sugar, Flour, kool-Aid, Oatmeal, etc) and covered them up. It's funny that people weren't buying them because they had penquins on them. Hellooo, cover them up! Love the pink lids on yours! Cute!
ReplyDeletethey look super cute with the kitchen aid love it
ReplyDeleteThey look fabulous

What a great idea to use contact paper! I bought some old Meyercord waterslide ones from Ebay, and they were really hard to slide, and came off in pieces. What did I expect for something that old? Love your jars, and your great finds from the previous post, especially that bird canister!
ReplyDeleteI just looove your jars! Where did you find the rose contact paper? Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHugs :)
