On the tenth day of Halloween, the Great Pumpkin gave to me:
One camping trip to far northwest Missouri with the kids over fall break. I REALLY REALLY needed a break from the constant go go go over here and so we went with no screens, no tvs, nothing but us and new things to see and do. (At first Dave thought I was completely insane when I suggested this, but the entire time our kids kept saying this was the greatest time ever. Well, not Jack, but he is 12.)
We stayed in a log cabin at Big Lake State Park. I wanted camping without the parts of camping that would be just intolerable for me with my health issues. Our cabin had this fun little loft. It was really a tiny house like you see on HGTV.
There were sunsets.
S'mores.
Canoe rides.
Fungi to be discovered.
A quick jaunt to Nebraska, I'd never been there before.
There are still fall out shelter signs up in Falls City.
Camp fires.
Sun rises.
Fishing.
Man it was windy and chilly that morning!
And some interesting patterns on the windshield which screamed make me into a quilt. :-)
It was a nice break. Today we are already back to the go go go and I am dead already. Ugh.
