I've managed to make a few things other than quilts. Say what!?  We have a kindness cradle the kids picked out at the kids Christmas shop last year at church but it was without a baby Jesus. I wanted to try this activity with the kids this year, so I made a little Jesus. I found a waldorf baby pattern somewhere, but Joann is TOTAL CRAP for supplies for this.  The lack of proper supplies made it much harder than it should have been.  I had to use minky for the body instead of velour, the face is swim lining over a Styrofoam get the idea.  It does the job though.  The kids are only so- so doing the job of filling the manger with straw though. They were SUPER gung ho for a few days, now it goes for days untouched.
My SUPER BIG act of kindness in December was a Christmas tag on a giving tree I saw at the eye dr. It was asking for hygiene items for a family of 7 - a mother of 6 kids, 3 who are teens. That tag just nagged and nagged so I went all the back for it and then made a plan to quickly raise funds to supply them.  (That is a LOT of soap!) Once I had raised the money Grant and I did some super coupon shopping and we LOADED them up.  We made three HUGE baskets full of stuff including cleaning supplies, sets of sheets, a few holiday decorations, soap, shampoo, tampons, and more (including 23 deodorants!). I was a coupon champ at target that day. (And that felt really awesome.)

Since soap is something they would have to share I thought everyone could use a little something of their own so I made 7 pillowcases and everyone can choose their own.

I really, deeply, sincerely hope that it all helps to ease that mama's heart, if only for a little while.

  1. Those pillowcases will be treasured and I hope it eases that mama's heart too. Thank you for your kindness.

Hi there. What say you?
