Hapde burfday Jack

My dearest Jack,

17?! I’ve been writing all of our adventures in this space since you turned 1. You’ve gone from
A fluffy, challenging baby (who I could never sort out) to a tall, lanky young man (who helps me sort it out).

I can hardly believe it’s your last year in high school. Everything from here on out feels foreign and unknown (and more than a little weird since all those things are now completely in YOUR control).

And I am certainly suffering a little bit from a bad case of the “lasts” - last this, last that. What a difference from all the years of “firsts” it is.

You are quickly becoming everything I had ever hoped you would be and so much more. My number one wish for you remains unchanged - that you find happiness and contentment wherever you land. Life is just too short to spend it unhappy, and no amount of money makes up for that.

Love you always,
Mom
